Boehly to the rescue for West Ham’s ailing window as 4 deals now possible

Chelsea chief Todd Boehly has come to the rescue of West Ham’s ailing window as deals for four big targets are now possible.

Last summer West Ham were one of the only clubs to get anything close to Chelsea’s level of transfer outlay.

West Ham’s business was of course fuelled by the £105m sale of Chelsea academy reject Declan Rice.

This summer, though, has been hit and miss for the Hammers thus far while Chelsea’s relentless pursuit of signings continues.

New West Ham head coach Julen Lopetegui and the club’s technical director Tim Steidten want to make eight signings this summer.

But so far they have managed only three with the new Premier League season just three weeks away.

Bloated Chelsea to ease Steidten woes?

Meanwhile Chelsea, who also have a new boss in the shape of former West Ham assistant coach Enzo Maresca, have made six signings and counting.

That has inflated their already bloated and expensively assembled squad.

Steidten is, for the first time, facing questions from some West Ham fans as the club still requires five quality signings to beef up the league’s smallest squad.

The German once came close to joining Chelsea when Thomas Tuchel was in charge.

Now the Blues could be the club to take his transfer blues away.

Because it’s Chelsea chief Todd Boehly to the rescue for West Ham’s ailing window as 4 deals are now possible.

West Ham’s window has hit a brick wall since the signing of Max Kilman three weeks ago.

A series of transfer collapses combined with the club’s failure to get deals over the line or beat other clubs to targets has proved a big concern.

After striking a deal with Bayern Munich for right-back Noussair Mazraoui, the move fell through.

Just like West Ham moves for reported Chelsea target Wesley Gassova and Brazilian Fabricio Bruno before it.

The Hammers have missed out on a number of key targets too, including Youssef En-Nesyri and Jean-Clair Todibo.

The Irons have also missed out on another centre-back target after Lyon’s Jake O’Brien agreed a move to a Premier League rival.

Worse still reports are claiming the Hammers are ready to walk away from a deal to sign another reported Chelsea target, Jhon Duran.

Boehly may as well be wearing shining armour and riding atop a white horse to the London Stadium, though.

Because he has just put 12 Chelsea players up for sale – including four genuine Hammers targets.

And they’re all in positions Steidten and Lopetegui are desperate to strengthen.

According to The Sun, Chelsea are ready to ship out 12 players in the next five weeks.

The report states that West Ham centre-back target Trevoh Chalobah, who has been left out of their tour of the US, will be sold.

It claims Chelsea will accept reasonable bids for longstanding Hammers striker target Armando Broja too.

Journalist Graeme Bailey recently confirmed that Broja remains a West Ham target.

Another Chelsea striker linked with the Hammers recently is David Datro Fofana.

The report claims he 22-year-old Ivorian, who scored a long-range belter for Burnley against the Irons at the London Stadium last season, is also for sale.

West Ham are looking to strengthen in centre-midfield as well.

And another longstanding target, Conor Gallagher, is also very much for sale. Although Atletico Madrid could provide serious competition for his signature.

Given Steidten’s struggles to get deals done of late, he cannot afford to look a gift horse in the mouth.

Chelsea need to sell to balance their books regarding PSR rules.

Now the Hammers simply must take advantage.
