Everton totally embarrass West Ham by signing top Steidten target voted best around

Everton embarrass West Ham by signing top Tim Steidten target voted best around. Everton have embarrassed West Ham by signing a top Tim Steidten target voted the best around as the Hammers suffer more window pain.

West Ham’s window is in something of a mini crisis at the moment. And Premier League rivals Everton have just dealt the Hammers their latest transfer blow.

The Toffees and West Ham have both been linked with interest in mutual targets thus far in the window.

West Ham also baulked at Everton’s asking price for Dominic Calvert-Lewin when offered the chance to sign him by an agent.

New Hammers head coach Julen Lopetegui and Everton boss Sean Dyche were both linked with moves for Jaden Philogene before he rejoined Aston Villa. West Ham and the Goodison Park outfit have also been linked with Hellas Verona star Jackson Tchatchoua.

At West Ham it is technical director Tim Steidten who is in full control of recruitment. But the German is clearly working with a restricted budget.

West Ham plan to make eight signings this summer to give Lopetegui a full squad. Thus far three have arrived, Max Kilman being the last exactly three weeks ago today.

It means the Hammers must make a signing a week between now and the closure of the window in order to do that.

PSR is a dirty word at Everton. The Toffees were docked points over PSR breaches and Dyche’s finances are said to be restricted again this summer.

West Ham are among the clubs best placed to do business this window, as confirmed by the likes of Kieran Maguire.

But a series of transfer collapses – and the club failing to get deals over the line – has proved a big concern.

The Hammers had agreed a deal with Bayern Munich for right-back Noussair Mazraoui.

But it fell through over a £3m severance fee his agents wanted in order for the Moroccan right-back to join West Ham – as revealed first by Hammers News yesterday morning.

West Ham moves for Wesley Gassova and Fabricio Bruno also hit the buffers after looking all but nailed on.

The Hammers have missed out on a number of key targets too, including Youssef En-Nesyri and Jean-Clair Todibo. New reports also claim the Hammers are ready to walk away from a deal with Villa to sign Jhon Duran. Now another can be added to the list of missed targets thanks to the Toffees.

Everton embarrass West Ham by signing top Steidten target

Because Everton have embarrassed West Ham by signing a top Steidten target voted the best around. West Ham and Everton have both been linked with Lyon’s Jake O’Brien. Steidten has been targeting O’Brien after dealing with Lyon over the transfer of Said Benrahma.

Journalist Alan Nixon previously claimed the chance to move to West Ham could be too good to refuse for O’Brien. L’Équipe confirmed the 23-year-old defender could be sold as Lyon must raise around £80m in sales.

But widespread claims this evening state a deal has been agreed for O’Brien to join Everton. Fabrizio Romano claims a deal has been agreed for the ex Palace academy star to join Everton and not West Ham.

The transfer reporter has even given the deal his trademark ‘here we go’. ‘Here we go’ means more woe for Steidten and co

While most West Ham transfers seem to become protracted sagas, O’Brien is already expected to have his Everton medical on Sunday ahead of signing a five-year contract.

Lyon made it clear on Thursday that Hammers target O’Brien was very much up for sale. Get French Football News named O’Brien the Ligue 1 signing of the season this summer after he joined for just €1m (£500k) from Palace in 2023 and exceeded all expectations.

🚨🔵 More on Jack O’Brien exclusive story.

Agreement in principle between Everton and OL, O’Brien also ready to accept the five year contract offered.

↪️🩺 Medical tests being planned, could be moved to Monday in order to prepare documents on Sunday

L’Equipe claim Everton have got O’Brien for just £16m.

This is another major blow for West Ham’s window plans. The Hammers are searching for another centre-back to partner Kilman. A deal for Bruno collapsed and Todibo turned West Ham down as he wants a move to Juventus. Another target, Jacob Greaves, joined Ipswich from Hull. A move for another Brazilian centre-back – Vitao – went nowhere.
