Tottenham suffer major Bergvall injury blow in pre-season friendly

Lucas Bergvall has been forced off after just 24 minutes of Tottenham’s pre-season friendly against QPR.

The 18-year-old impressed earlier this week in Spurs’ 5-1 win against Hearts and was thus rewarded with a start at Loftus Road. However, his afternoon was brought to an abrupt end with an injury forcing him to be replaced by Dejan Kulusevski.

Ange Postecoglou has also been impressed by the Sweden international with his his comments and confirmed shirt number of No.15 certainly telling of his potential plans for Bergvall. “He’s been chomping at the bit to get across here. He’s come in and looked really good in training, I’m pleased to have him as part of the group.”

Bergvall was signed by Spurs earlier this year, with the teenager opting for north London over Barcelona, before he officially joined on July 1. During that period, Bergvall remained at Djurgarden in his home country with a number of exciting displays arriving in that time.

Alongside Bergvall, Tottenham have welcomed Archie Gray as a new addition with Timo Werner also re-joining the club on loan. The Lilywhites do not currently appear in advanced talks with any other signings, however there is a clear admiration for the likes of Desire Doue, Eberechi Eze and Jacob Ramsey.

With more attacking signings eyed, Postecoglou will be hoping the injury to Bergvall is not serious as he looked set for an important role in the 2024/25 season.
