West Ham player openly admits he’s found it difficult since he moved to the London Stadium

West Ham United signed Danny Ings from Aston Villa during the January transfer window in 2023. David Moyes convinced the West Ham board to part with £15 million to bring Danny Ings to the London Stadium, but the Scot didn’t give the striker ample opportunities to shine.

The 31-year-old’s record for the Hammers makes for pretty grim reading – four goals and two assists in 52 games tells its own story really doesn’t it.

In Ings’ defence though, he hasn’t been given a regular run of starts at West Ham over the past 18 months.

I’m not suggesting that that’s the only reason he has struggled, but it can’t have been easy for him to come into games for five or 10 minutes here and there.

Now Ings actually has the chance to make a fresh start under new boss Julen Lopetegui, and he has talked openly about the past year-and-a-half in East London

Danny Ings opens up on West Ham struggles

The Hammers hitman has produced the goods at every single club he’s played for during his career.

All apart from West Ham that is. He has endured an incredibly challenging last 18 months with the Hammers.Ings sat down for an exclusive interview with the club’s official website about the upcoming season.

The 31-year-old striker said, “I’ve found it quite difficult since I got here, but I’ve also loved every minute of it as we have got a really, really good group here.

It’s not often you hear players talking so openly and honestly about their struggles in the game. And with that in mind, it was extremely refreshing to hear Ings open up about the hardships he’s faced at the London Stadium.

We all know that the former Aston Villa, Southampton and Liverpool man has been a disastrous signing for us. However, he was never used correctly by Moyes.

So who knows? Perhaps Lopetegui will be able to get the best out of Danny Ings at West Ham.

At the very least, it will be nice to see Ings given a proper chance to prove his worth in a system that actually suits him.
