Williams has been mooted as a target for Tottenham right from the start of the summer, with several outlets suggesting that the Lilywhites are big fans of the Athletic Club star.
The latest such update came on Wednesday when Football Insider revealed that Spurs are continuing to keep a close eye on the 21-year-old’s situation.
The report stated that Ange Postecoglou’s men could end up in a transfer battle for Aston Villa, who have also had their eye on the Spaniard for a long time.
The outlet claimed that the Atheltic Club star has a £49m release clause in his contract and that the club chiefs at Tottenham are convinced that he is a ‘star in the marking’.
Nico Williams is not thinking about transfers right now
Williams has now finally addressed the rumours around his future but he insisted that any talks over a transfer will be parked until after the Euros.
The rumoured Spurs target said (via The Mirror): “Everything that comes from outside is good, it means I’m doing my job well. Every kid dreams of being noticed by big clubs.
“I’m focused on doing well at the European Championship and whatever comes after that I’ll find out because these days I’m totally disconnected.”
