Henry Winter has admitted that he expects West Ham United star Jarrod Bowen will be included in England’s final Euro 2024 squad.
The 27-year-old has had an excellent season under David Moyes at the London Stadium, scoring 20 goals and laying on 10 assists in all competitions to earn a place in the Three Lions’ preliminary squad.
While some pundits have suggested the Irons ace could be one of those left out by Gareth Southgate this summer, former Times journalist Winter expects that Bowen will make the cut to travel to Germany.
Speaking on talkSPORT on Sunday (2 June, 10:54) he said: “I just think if Southgate makes those key changes in the key moments of games, just look at the options.
“[Bukayo] Saka starts, [Cole] Palmer can come on. Bowen, if he’s in the squad which I assume he will be. England have got so many options.”

If the England squad was based only on form, there is an argument to suggest Bowen deserves a starting role this summer, let alone just being included in the final 26-man squad to make the trip to Germany.
In what was a difficult season for Moyes’ Hammers, the 27-year-old impressed week in and week out as he played both in his preferred right-wing position as well as deputising as a centre-forward if and when it was required.
That sort of versatility could be crucial in the Euros and that makes Bowen undroppable for Southgate at this moment in time. Hopefully, common sense will prevail, Winter will be correct and Bowen will be on the plane to Germany.
West Ham won’t want their talisman to have too good a tournament, however. He has already reportedly caught the eye of Newcastle United heading into the summer window [The Telegraph, 23 May] and a good tournament could see him attract a few more suitors.
The Irons appear to be adamant that he isn’t for sale at any price, but a big bid could always force their hand this summer.
