West Ham launch moves for two powerful strikers but Steidten sends warning

West Ham launch moves for two top strikers but Tim Steidten sends warning. West Ham are launching moves for two top powerful strikers but Tim Steidten has sent a warning says a journalist.

West Ham want to sign a proper out-and-out striker this summer.7  WORST Title Defences of All Time. The good news is that now David Moyes has departed the club will make sure they sign one.

Moyes gave up on both Sebastien Haller and Gianluca Scamacca and claimed ad nauseum that there were no decent strikers around in the transfer market. But other clubs seem to be finding them, much to the frustrations of West Ham fans.

Technical director Tim Steidten has made signing a striker and two central defenders his top priority for new Hammers head coach Julen Lopetegui. The likes of Ivan Toney, Victor Boniface, Forest’s Taiwo Awoniyi and Armando Broja have been linked to name but a few.

Awoniyi was a Moyes target says journalist

The Hammers are said to have finalised their prime forward targets, though.

Both Stuttgart’s Serhou Guirassy and Youssef En-Nesyri have also been heavily linked too.Journalist Dean Jones says he has been told West Ham are now unlikely to move for Awoniyi.

Instead Steidten is now focusing on Guirassy and En-Nesyri with the view to signing one of them.

Jones says recent links to Awoniyi were a red herring because he was a Moyes target.

Now the journalist says Lopetegui and Steidten are looking to get a deal done for Guirassy or En-Nesyri with ‘both on the move this summer’.

Crucially, though, Steidten has made it perfectly clear West Ham won’t be hanging around waiting for answers.

Jones says Steidten is prepared to quickly move on to West Ham’s other targets if players don’t show they want the move.

“Obviously, West Ham do want a new forward, and they are considering a variety of different elements when it comes to finding the right man,” Jones told Give Me Sport.

“But I just get the impression there are other candidates that seem more likely than Awoniyi.

“I think En-Nesyri and Guirassy are two of the top targets, and they would move onto others if they prove not to be possible or if Steidten decides the terms of a deal are not suitable.”

This claim definitely adds up when it comes to West Ham’s budget for their big rebuild.

The Hammers have given Steidten around £100m to spend.

Price tags fit West Ham’s budget

But that doesn’t amount to a lot when you consider West Ham need at least six to eight signings this summer.

Hammers News exclusively revealed before anyone that En-Nesyri was the striker on a wish-list Lopetegui presented to David Sullivan and Steidten when interviewed.

The Moroccan – who was seen saying an emotional goodbye to Sevilla last weekend – is said to be available for £17m.

It is no coincidence that Guirassy, who scored 28 goals in as many games for Stuttgart last season, is also available for around the same price because he has a £17.5m release clause. En-Nesyri turned 27 yesterday whereas Guirassy is 29 next season.
