Striker leaves ground in tears after final game, West Ham ready to sign him – report

West Ham United are ready to bet heavily on Youssef En-Nesyri after Sevilla decided they would sell the Morocco striker, according to VamosMiSevilla.

The Spanish outlet reported that due to their financial emergencies, Sevilla is looking to hurry along the sale, with the striker leaving Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán in tears after playing his final game there.

En-Nesyri, who has played his entire senior career in Spain and is valued between £17million and £21million by Sevilla, started and scored on May 26, with Julen Lopetegui ready to step in.

Lopetegui to seal En-Nesyri transfer at West Ham

Julen Lopetegui and Youssef En-Nesyri have history together, winning the 2020 Europa League in Cologne during their time at the Andalusian club.

West Ham hiring Lopetegui represents their desire to have similar success on the continent after lifting the 2023 UEFA Conference League under David Moyes, and for a first attacking signing, they could do much worse than En-Nesyri.

The Morocco striker scored once at the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations this January, but missing a month of the season didn’t dent his domestic form in the slightest, netting 20 goals in 41 appearances in all competitions for Sevilla, including 16 in La Liga.

That’s a rate of almost a goal every other game, and after number nine Michail Antonio scored just seven across 32 matches in all competitions last season, En-Nesyri represents a clear upgrade for the Hammers.

A reunion with Lopetegui as West Ham’s leading striker would surely appeal to En-Nesyri, and if the Spaniard wants to get off to a solid start at the London Stadium, the Moroccan’s all-but-guaranteed goals can help him to do so.
