A really clean sweep – further departures confirmed

All but two members of David Moyes’ backroom team have been dismissed following the departure of the manger.

Billy McKinlay, John Heitinga, Henry Newman and Kevin Nolan have parted company with West Ham, just a matter of days after the Scot took his final game – against Manchester City last Sunday.

Also departing along with Moyes and the main members of his coaching team are Technical Advisor Alan Irvine, Fitness Coach Nick Davies, Jamie Osman – the Head of Performance Analysis – and, as revealed on KUMB yesterday, Head of Recruitment Rob Newman.

However goalkeeping coach Xavi Valero and first team Mark Robson have escaped the cull and will remain at the club for the forseeable future.

“The club would like to thank Billy, Kevin, John, Henry, Rob, Alan, Nick and Jamie for their hard work, commitment and dedication to West Ham United and wish each of them all the very best in the future,” read a brief statement on West Ham’s website.

The clean sweep comes in preparation of the announcement of Julen Lopetegui as West Ham United’s second foreign manager, who will bring with him his own coaching team.

That could include some or all of Pablo Sanz, Juan Peinado, Edu Rubio, Fran Garagarza, fitness coaches Oscar Caro and Borja De Alba Alonso plus Fran Garagarza and Lopetegui’s son Daniel, who has previously worked alongside his father as a performance analyst.
