West Ham United player ratings v Man City: Michail Antonio has 2/10 shocker, MOTM gets 8/10. West Ham United fell to a 3-1 loss against Manchester City on the final day of the Premier League season as David Moyes bowed out in defeat.
Phil Foden put City ahead a little over a minute into Sunday’s (19 May) contest at the Etihad Stadium and added a second with 18 minutes gone. Mohammed Kudus scored a sensational goal just before half-time, but Rodri put the game out of United’s reach as City claimed another title.

West Ham kept in it by double Alphonse Areola stop
Alphonse Areola – 7
Made great saves in the first half to deny Jeremy Doku and then Erling Haaland, but still conceded three times. Also flapped at corners too often, yet still a positive display on the whole.
Kurt Zouma – 4
Assured on the ball but was caught out too often by City’s slack passing – no major shame in that, to be fair – on what could possibly be his final game for the club depending on the transfer plans going forward.
Konstantinos Mavropanos – 5
Did enough to put off Erling Haaland and somehow prevent the prolific striker from tapping in. That was his best moment in a game in which the Irons were second best.
Aaron Cresswell – 4
Rather remarkably, he was the only West Ham player to register a key pass. Otherwise disappointed, though, with a number of attacks coming down his side.
Vladimir Coufal – 6.5
Registered a team-high five tackles on a busy afternoon for the defender, while also leading the way with his three blocked shots. A good shift, albeit not enough for the visitors.
James Ward-Prowse – 3
Had a really poor first half in which he allowed Foden to step inside him too easily for the opener, and then failed to cut out Doku’s pass for the second. Slightly improved but not much.
Tomas Soucek – 5
Had the ball in the net late on but goal was rightly ruled out for handball. Struggled to get on the ball throughout and did not distribute it very well when he did so, with a rather underwhelming 72.2 per cent pass accuracy.
Emerson – 4.5
Tried to make something happen, which is more than can be said about many of his colleagues, but just did not have the quality and was the first player to be taken off.

Mohammed Kudus – 8
Was United’s only threat prior to his strike, which was a late contender for Goal of the Season. In that one moment he showed just why he is so important to the Irons going forward. Only visiting player to muster any shot of note.

Played nearly full game and yet had just 12 touches of the ball – the lowest of any starter on the field – which is a terrible return. Also completed only 62.5 per cent of his passes (eight). Fair to say West Ham missed the movement in behind of illness victim Jarrod Bowen.
Lucas Paqueta – 3.5
Nobody misplaced more passes (four) on an off-day, which are becoming more frequent this season. This could be good news for West Ham in many ways as this could have been his big audition as to whether City make a move this summer.
