‘Whole stadium can’t believe it…’ – BBC pundit reacts to West Ham v Luton moment

BBC pundit reveals Mohammed Kudus moment that stunned West Ham United fans v Luton Paul Robinson could not believe his eyes as Mohammed Kudus failed to score as West Ham faced Luton Town on Saturday (11 May) and he revealed that neither could the supporters at the London Stadium.

The Hammers’ final home game of the season also marked David Moyes’ final home game in charge, and they got off to a poor start as Albert Sambi Lokonga netted after six minutes.

James Ward-Prowse equalised before Tomas Soucek and George Earthy helped the Irons to complete a 3-1 victory, though Kudus earlier missed a gilt-edged chance that former England goalkeeper Robinson couldn’t believe.

Speaking live via BBC Radio 5 Live on Saturday (11 May, 4:35pm), Robinson said: “Mohammed Kudus cannot believe he’s missed. The whole stadium can’t believe it.

“Jarrod Bowen running again, running at the defence and there are so many holes in this Luton defence.”

Mohammed Kudus fails to deliver Hammer blow in West Ham United v Luton Town

Kudus has experienced a hugely successful first season in the Premier League, notching seven goals and six assists in the league since arriving from Ajax last summer.

The Ghanaian forward is one of the most exciting players in the Hammers squad, accompanying Bowen and Lucas Paqueta in attack, and certainly should have added one more goal to his record.

A fourth goal would have been a devastating blow for the Hatters, especially with their chances of remaining in the Premier League dropping to nearly zero per cent.

Though Luton are just three points behind Nottingham Forest in the table, Rob Edwards’ side need a major swing in goal difference to have any chance of staying in the division.

Mohammed Kudus should have scored as West Ham beat Luton Town 3-1

Of course, a positive result at the London Stadium would have changed the situation completely, but West Ham were just too strong for the relegation-bound team.

On the other hand, for the Hammers, it was the perfect way to end Moyes’ time in charge at West Ham, with just one match remaining before the manager parts ways with the club.

In other West Ham news, Wolves’ stance on Max Kilman has been shared by Fabrizio Romano amid links with the Hammers.
