Major news impacting West Ham manager search as ex PL boss snubs job

There is major news impacting the West Ham United manager search as a former Premier League boss snubs job.

West Ham have been linked with 14 different managers in the last 10 days.

But it is one not on West Ham’s list who may have just had a big say in who does or doesn’t succeed David Moyes.

It looks increasingly like the Scot is set to preside over his last three Hammers matches.

Man City away could bring the curtain down on four-and-a-half successful years in east London.

Moyes’ style of play and failure – alongside the owners – to future proof the West Ham squad has made a parting of the ways inevitable as his contract expires.

Regardless of the tremendous job Moyes has done, West Ham require a major rebuild of at least 10 new signings this summer.

West Ham still hold Amorim hope

In search of a replacement, West Ham seem to be straddling a thin line between doing due diligence on potential new managers and blasting the market with scattergun.

Links to Ruben Amorim, Julen Lopetegui, Thomas Tuchel, Paulo Fonseca, Kieran McKenna, Steve Cooper, Sebastian Hoeness, Hansi Flick, Vincent Kompany, Gary O’Neil, Abel Ferreira, Maurizio Sarri, Marco Silva and Eusebio Di Francesco are testament to that.

Especially as journalist Graeme Bailey exclusively told Hammers News last week there are indeed a dozen names on the “shortlist” compiled by David Sullivan and Tim Steidten.

One name not on the list is former Man United boss Ralf Rangnick.

But he may have just inadvertently had a huge say in who may or may not take over at the London Stadium.

Major news impacting West Ham manager search

There is major news impacting the West Ham manager search as ex Premier League boss Rangnick snubs a top job.

A Sky Sports Germany journalist stirred excitement among Hammers fans earlier this week.

Florian Plettenberg claimed Amorim was still number one on West Ham’s shortlist to replace Moyes. He also stated Tuchel remains high on the list.

The fact Rangnick was set to take over from Tuchel at Bayern Munich meant that particular door was closed Amorim after extensive links to the role.

With Liverpool turning to Arne Slot and Xavi staying at Barcelona, all the clubs reported to be West Ham’s rival suitors for wantaway Amorim were out of the question.

It has also been claimed Roberto De Zerbi – who has been linked with Bayern too – is set to leave Brighton and has no job offers lined up.

That would potentially give the Hammers hierarchy another name to consider.

Rangnick has rejected Bayern and now intends to see out his contract with Austria until its expiry in 2026, as reported by BILD.

    Wreck it Ralf

That is likely to cause a domino effect which is bad news for West Ham.

Not least because Amorim will now come back into the frame for the job.

West Ham fans have been getting their hopes up that the 39-year-old Sporting boss might still be lured to the club after talks with Sullivan last week.

With the Bayern job now back open, they would be clear favourites in any tussle with the Hammers for Amorim.

It would not be a complete disaster for West Ham yet, though.

Because Tuchel and Fonseca – the other two names who appeal to the club’s fans – are still available.

    For now at least.
