Two English clubs looking to raid Tottenham for highly-rated 21-year-old midfielder
Tottenham Hotspur’s Matthew Craig is on the radar of Millwall and Sheffield Wednesday.
Matthew Craig has had an impressive loan spell at Doncaster Rovers. The 21-year-old defensive midfielder has played a big part in their dominant run in the second half of the season. His performances haven’t gone unnoticed and according to a report by Football Insider, Millwall and Sheffield Wednesday are both keen on having him in their squad for next season.
Craig has been a part of the Tottenham setup since his childhood days. He has come up the ranks at some pace and has made quite a name for himself. The defensive midfielder is highly rated by the people at the club and they expect him to soon break into their first team.
He featured for the senior team once as a substitute on the final day of the 2022/23 season and was the skipper of their Under-21 team before joining Doncaster Rovers on a short loan in the winter. He has featured in 18 matches for the League Two outfit and has even contributed towards two goals.
The defensive midfielder has played a big part in their late-season run to make it to the playoffs. The 21-year-old defensive midfielder’s performances have resulted in interest from Championship clubs Millwall and Sheffield Wednesday. Both clubs have started planning loan moves for the Tottenham youth product.
While Craig will return to his parent club in the summer, he is unlikely to get enough first-team action there and a move elsewhere could help his cause. Joining either of the Championship clubs will be a step up in class for the 21-year-old and it will be a great opportunity for him to develop his game further. As a result, it will be interesting to see if he does end up making the move.
