West Ham have been pestering manager’s agent – Worry about other interest prompted action
Thursday’s edition of A Bola has their latest slant on what happened between West Ham United and Sporting manager Ruben Amorim.
There was one claim in Portugal on Wednesday which stated the manager had used the Hammers to try and pressure Liverpool and stop the Reds dithering, but that hasn’t been backed up by anyone else since.
A Bola say the reason Amorim travelled to London was because West Ham had been pestering his agent Raul Costa.
West Ham are said to have been the club which came through first, and it is they who, worried about links with others, put the pressure on to encourage Amorim to make the trip to London.
A Bola then explain that despite that trip ‘generating a huge buzz’ around Sporting, and not just there, it didn’t ‘bring the parties together’.
Indeed, when the manager arrived back in Lisbon he was ‘even further away’ from taking the West Ham job than when he’d left for London.
It was nothing to do with wages, with the Hammers offering more money than the Reds, but rather ‘the sporting project presented did not fully seduce him’.
And that, it would seem, is that.
If it were just a matter of money it would be easier for West Ham to solve and try to convince Amorim that they’re the club for him.
With the gaps between the parties being sporting related it’s difficult to see how that changes.
