Jeff Stelling has told West Ham to hire Ruben Amorim “immediately” after a meeting in London raised the possibility of the Sporting CP boss moving to the London Stadium.
The Portuguese boss was described as rather the opposite of Jose Mourinho as he is calm and polite with the media – even when faced with frustration.
Mourinho was another name who had been tipped to take over from David Moyes should he lose his job, but Amorim has now emerged as the number one target for the Hammers.

Pressure had been growing on Moyes’ job for a while given the inconsistent performances this season, but the 5-2 defeat to Crystal Palace seemingly put the nail in the coffin with the Hammers considering their options – of which Amorim looks top of the list.
The most recent update from Fabrizio Romano shared that Amorim would discuss his future with his agent following the meeting in London, with no decision made as things stand, while talks with Liverpool remain on standby.
For West Ham to attract a manager who was so heavily linked with taking over from Jurgen Klopp at Anfield would be seen as a huge coup and likely the right man to move the club forward from their position under Moyes.
While Stelling’s response may be more due to the way the Sporting boss handles his media duties than his managerial credentials, his attitude off the pitch should be among the considerations should he be offered the job
