View: David Moyes has to axe terrible West Ham dud, he may already have got him the sack

West Ham United: David Moyes has to take Kurt Zouma action, may have got him the sack. David Moyes quite simply has to take action at half-time against Crystal Palace with West Ham 4-1 down at the interval.

The Irons produced a truly shocking display in the opening 45 minutes of Sunday’s (21 April) clash at Selhurst Park. While all 11 players could easily have been hooked at the break, Moyes’ options are limited and he has to be wise about who comes off.

The attackers offered nothing, the midfield was completely disjointed and the defence was truly shocking – including goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski.

West Ham ripped apart by Crystal Palace

One player in particular was especially bad in the first half, though, and that is why Moyes has to drag off Zouma at half-time.

It is fair to say all four of Palace’s goals were preventable, and questions have to be asked over Zouma’s part in the majority of them, particularly the first when giving the ball away.

Rather than cutting out crosses, the centre-back just seemed to allow Palace’s attackers full freedom of the 18-yard box.

It did not help that Angelo Ogbonna was brought into the side for a rare Premier League start, but that was even more reason for Zouma to step up. Instead, the complete opposite was true. Zouma ended the half with no interceptions to his name, no clearances and no blocked shots [WhoScored].

David Moyes under big pressure at West Ham

There are no obvious solutions as to what Moyes must do if West Ham are to not be completely embarassed – if they have not been already.

Aaron Cresswell is among the substitutes and can come into the side, which may also lead to a change in formation.

West Ham United manager David Moyes faces an uncertain future at London Stadium

Regardless of what alterations Moyes makes at the break, what we saw in the first half in South London may well be enough to get him the sack anyway.

As extreme as that sounds, there is no longer the safety net of European football and the players have clearly switched off.

Zouma has been arguably the worst of a bad bunch, but every player must hang their heads in shame.

In other West Ham news, a big rebuild is anticipated at London Stadium at the end of the season.
