Chris Sutton has reacted to the feisty footage that emerged of an off-field incident from West Ham v Bayer Leverkusen in the UEFA Europa League on 18 April.

David Moyes’ assistant Billy McKinlay was given a red card for a fracas down the touchline as things began to get heated.

On the pitch too, the Hammers put in a decent performance and came extremely close to beating Leverkusen’s unbeaten run, with the game ending 1-1 at the London Stadium.

Via Twitter, Sutton wrote: “I wouldn’t mess with badger.”

West Ham put up a fight v Bayer Leverkusen

The Hammers fans certainly would’ve liked that show of passion from McKinlay on the touchline.

The display of emotion and engagement from the coaching staff can be seen as a reflection of the team’s commitment and drive to succeed.

This kind of passion can galvanise players and fans alike, creating a sense of unity and determination within the club.

Despite the game ending in a 1-1 draw, the Hammers put in a relatively impressive performance against the German side.

Although they were unable to overcome a two-goal deficit from the first leg, they came close to ending Bayer Leverkusen’s unbeaten run in the competition.

They demonstrated resilience and determination, which are qualities that supporters value highly.

This match could serve as a source of encouragement for the team and the fans, as they look forward to future competitions and opportunities to progress in European football.

In other West Ham news, the club have been handed a major boost in appointing David Moyes’ replacement as a manager has made his future intentions clear.
