West Ham United: David Moyes position ‘very strong’ amid contract stalemate
David Moyes will strengthen his position at West Ham if they can defeat Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League, according to Michael Bridge.
The Sky Sports reporter insisted that, amid the ongoing uncertainty over Moyes’ position at the London Stadium, victory in Europe would put him in a good position to negotiate.
This came amid praise for Michail Antonio, Lucas Paqueta and Mohammed Kudus as Bridge reflected on the season West Ham have had so far under Moyes.
Speaking to Give Me Sport [28 March], Bridge shared: “The Kalvin Phillips loan is not looking like a good one at the moment.
“But then you see the return of Michail Antonio, and West Ham seem to get the best out of Lucas Paqueta when those players come back. Mohammed Kudus has been a brilliant signing as well.
“It could be a case of wait and see over the next few weeks and months when it comes to David Moyes’ future, but let’s see how they get on against Bayer Leverkusen.
“Leverkusen are probably one of the best teams to watch in Europe this season, but if West Ham can get through over those two games, I really do think it puts David Moyes in a very, very strong position.”

Moyes’ situation at the London Stadium has been a hot topic of discussion since the 6-0 defeat to Arsenal and the news that the board had delayed contract talks, although the rumours have died down slightly after putting together a strong run of form.
This update comes after fellow Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth insisted that Moyes will make the final decision about whether he stays or leaves in the summer, as he agreed a Europa League challenge could push him to stay.
Darren Bent, meanwhile, tipped Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna to take over from Moyes should he decide to leave the London Stadium, with the Tractor Boys currently challenging for promotion from the Championship.
This leaves an air of uncertainty around the London Stadium, with nothing set in stone about the manager’s future, giving him all of the power in the ultimate decision which could decide the trajectory of the club next season.
