West Ham are said to be willing to break the bank for £50m striker Victor Boniface this summer and now an exciting new claim has been made.
West Ham have been linked with a host of forwards ahead of the summer transfer window.
The club’s lack of depth up front was exposed at the turn of the year when they lost key players Mohammed Kudus, Jarrod Bowen and Lucas Paqueta for a spell along with Michail Antonio.
West Ham fans questioned the club’s decision not to replace Gianluca Scamacca following his sale last summer.
Steidten to be backed with £50m Boniface move
One man being heavily linked with West Ham is £50m striker Victor Boniface.
In January it was claimed West Ham’s owners will back technical director Tim Steidten by breaking the bank to sign Boniface from Bayer Leverkusen this summer.
The report claimed West Ham believe an offer of £50m may tempt their Europa League quarter-final opponents into selling.
‘Concrete inquiry’ from mystery Prem club confirmed
Well now a German reporter has made an exciting new claim which has set West Ham pulses racing.
Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg claims a mystery English club has already made a ‘concrete verbal inquiry’ to Leverkusen for the Nigerian goal-a-game ace.
And given the extensive links, many Hammers fans are thinking – and very much hoping – it is them.
Especially as Plettenberg states Leverkusen could sell at the £50m price the Hammers are said to be willing to pay.
Journalist suggests Leverkusen may be willing to sell
“News on Victor Boniface: The 23 y/o striker has a big market in England,” Plettenberg said.
“In addition, Bayer 04 has a concrete verbal inquiry for him from an unknown club from the Premier League.
“But Boniface is not actually for sale as they would like to keep him.
“If Leverkusen were to be willing to talk at all, offers of more than 55 million euros (£50m) would have to be made. Boniface, now back in training after an adductor surgery in January.”
