‘Way too good’: Darren Bent says clubs will have to stump up £80m for Tottenham player now

Son Heung-min continues to pave the way for Tottenham and remind all that class is permanent – and Darren Bent reckons that even now he is in his thirties, clubs would have to pay £80m for him.

Son will turn 32 in July but despite that, he has still managed to have a hand in 22 goals in his 25 games for Tottenham. That is despite missing a month of football due to his participation in the Asian Cup.

Now the club’s captain, Son is just three games away from clocking up a huge 400 for the North London outfit. A player that Tottenham goalkeeper Gugliemo Vicario recently said is “literally unbelievable”.

Saudi Arabian clubs are showing interest in Son, and former Tottenham striker Bent discussed how much it would take for Tottenham to consider bids for their skipper. He claims it could be a huge £80m.

Speaking to TalkSPORT (13/03, 5.15PM), Bent said: “Far too good not to win anything. Way too good. I don’t know [why no clubs have come in for him]. You’d have to pay £70m or £80m. What a player.”

Darren Bent says Tottenham’s Son Heung-min would cost £80m

Son’s age might mean clubs would prefer not to go as high as £80m, but he is worth that to Spurs and more. A fan favourite, a leader, and a player that suits Ange Postecoglou’s system down to the ground.

There are not many players that can be coined as truly world class but Son is among that category. A genuinely incredible talent that continues to prove age is just a number. Son is synonymous with Spurs.

If Postecoglou is to guide Spurs into the top four come the end of the season, then Son will be crucial to that. A huge London derby for Spurs awaits this weekend at Fulham, before the international break.
