Lets the links begin as 63-yo CL winning manager Sullivan loves is sacked after just 5 wins in 28

One West Ham United linked manager has just lost his job, and the rumours will undoubtedly begin to fly about now.

West Ham manager David Moyes is currently feeling the heat in his role at the London Stadium, with the likes of Thomas Tuchel apparently being linked with replacing the 60-year-old Scot.

The Hammers were absolutely flying at the end of last year. After we beat Arsenal 2-0 at the Emirates, we sat comfortably in sixth spot in the Premier League table.

However, since the turn of the year, things have seriously gone downhill for West Ham. Sure, Moyes has had to deal with injuries to key players like Lucas Paqueta, and Mohammed Kudus heading off to AFCON for a month or so didn’t help either.

That aside, the football has been utterly horrendous – pure dross, with no patterns of play or any kind of discernible playing style aside from aiming to score from set-pieces.

If Moyes is moved on, it would be no surprise. However, there is one man who I really don’t want to replace him…

West Ham linked manager David Sullivan loves is sacked

Rafa Benitez has been sacked by Celta Vigo after just under nine months in charge of the La Liga outfit (BBC).

He won only five of 28 league games that he took charge of, and with Celta Vigo currently sitting one place outside the relegation zone, it’s no wonder why he has been moved on.

Sullivan admitted himself back in 2015 that he’s a huge fan of Rafa, and was just two hours away from appointing him as West Ham manager (The Guardian).

Then in 2023, the Hammers owner was heavily linked with bringing the Spaniard into the London Stadium to replace Moyes.

He had success during his time in charge of Liverpool and Chelsea where he won the Champions League and Europa League respectively, and of course Valencia, where he won two La Liga titles more than 20 years ago.

However, he’s very much yesterday’s man, and the defensive, painfully slow paced playing style that he implements certainly wouldn’t appeal to the Hammers fans.

Now Benitez has been sacked from Celta Vigo though, we should all fully expected him to be linked with the West Ham manager’s job at some point or another.
