Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner is interested in signing Rapid Vienna talents Leopold Querfeld and Matthias Seidl this summer.
HITC Football understands that Rapid Vienna pair Leopold Querfeld and Matthias Seidl are attracting interest from a host of British clubs.
20-year-old Querfeld has come through the ranks at Rapid, whilst Seidl, 23, was a summer signing from FC Blau-Weis Linz but has since became a full international and has been hugely impressive this term.
It is understood that new Palace boss Oliver Glasner has already informed the club’s hierarchy that they should be keeping a close eye on central defender Querfeld and attacking midfielder Seidl.
But Palace are not alone in taking an interest ahead of the summer window.
HITC understands that Fulham, Burnley, Wolves and Leicester have also watched both players in action – as have Scottish giants Celtic and Rangers.
Who are Leopold Querfeld and Matthias Seidl?
As mentioned earlier, defender Querfeld is a product of the Rapid youth ranks.
Vienna-born Querfeld is a physical talent at 6ft 3in tall and has already racked up more than 60 first-team appearances at just 20.
Querfeld has been with Rapid since the age of just eight and has now picked up 11 caps for the Austrian Under-21’s.
Now with just over a year left on his contract, Querfeld could be a real talent for the future.
Seidl has had a slightly different journey having spent six years in the ranks with hometown club Red Bull Salzburg.
A spell with SV Grodig followed as a teenager before Seidl dropped down to the fourth tier of Austrian football with SV Kuchl.
Seidl joined FC Blau-Weiss Linz in 2021 and that move was the making of him, racking up 27 goals and 17 assists in 62 games.
Primarily an attacking midfielder, Seidl joined Rapid last summer and has been in great form this season, hitting nine goals and six assists.
It’s no surprise that Palace’s Austrian boss Glasner is aware of their talent, but the Eagles will seemingly face major competition for both players.
