Eagle-eyed West Ham site Hammers News has spotted Lewis Orford training with the Irons squad ahead of tonight’s clash with Freiburg.
Whilst I’m far from convinced that we’ll see the Academy youngster feature tonight, it’s certainly good to see him involved. As Hugh discussed in his feature yesterday, morale at the Academy of Football must be at an all-time low.

Graduates Ben Johnson and Divin Mubama appear to be on their way out of the club. To add insult to injury, hardly any of our loanees are getting valuable game time. The whole situation smacks of mismanagement of a youth team who ridiculously are FA Cup holders as well as one of the best teams in Europe.
Therefore, with first-team exposure at a minimum, it’s good to see Orford involved. Having seen him play at close quarters, he is a midfielder with an excellent passing range who is physically well-developed for his age. He may not feature tonight, but being involved will do him and the academy the world of good.
