    Bizarre admissions by Sean Dyche

Garry Lineker reacts to ‘bizarre’ Sean Dyche admission after Everton loss v West Ham United

Gary Lineker has said Everton “can’t finish their dinner“ after they missed a host of chances against West Ham on Saturday.

The Toffees were beaten 3-1 at home by the Hammers at Goodison Park, despite taking the lead in the game on 56 minutes through striker Beto.

They are winless in their last six Premier League games and seven outings in all competitions.

Speaking after the match, their boss Sean Dyche said on Match of the Day (2 March): “You’ve got to win games. That is my responsibility without a shadow of a doubt. In this run of games when we haven’t won, I mean how we haven’t is bizarre.”

Pundit Jermaine Jenas added: “It was one of those games where you watching it and thinking, ‘it’s not going to go in for them’.”

Lineker replied: “It could have been so different without Alphonse Areola in goal. They can’t finish their dinner!”

Gary Lineker reacts to Sean Dyche’s Everton comments

Everton are lacking that cutting edge up front as they look to pick up more points in their battle for survival.

Beto has only scored twice in the league since his summer switch from Udinese and Dominic Calvert-Lewin has only found the net on three occasions so they are lacking the threat of a clinical forward up top.

The Toffees didn’t play badly against West Ham and had 55% possession and 11 shots on target. However, they were up against a Hammers’ goalkeeper Alphonse Areola who was in top form.

Dyche’s side have scored 29 goals in their 27 outings so far this term, with only the bottom two Sheffield United and Burnley managing to score less which highlights what their main issue has been in this campaign.

Sean Dyche was left frustrated by what he saw at Everton.

Bringing in attacking reinforcements needs to be on their agenda this summer. In the meantime though, their focus is on avoiding relegation to the Championship and they are currently five points above the drop zone.

In other Everton news, Leon Osman was impressed by one particular player against West Ham.
