46-year-old close to big appointment after shock West Ham links first emerged two weeks ago

Former Premier League manager close to big appointment after West Ham links first emerged two weeks ago. Julen Lopetegui is treading on very thin ice right now in his role as West Ham United head coach.

The West Ham owners are said to be ready to sack Julen Lopetegui, if we lose heavily against Newcastle and Arsenal immediately after the international break. The Spaniard has seriously underwhelmed in his role as Hammers head coach, and all is not well at the London Stadium right now.

West Ham are languishing not too far away from the relegation zone, after a huge £120 million+ summer spend.

That’s simply not good enough, and it will be no surprise to see Lopetegui moved on if results don’t improve quickly.

The 58-year-old is nothing more than a dead man walking right now as far as I’m concerned.

However, one man heavily linked with the Hammers job will not be coming to East London it seems.

Frank Lampard won’t be the new West Ham manager

Whilst Lopetegui may well be gone from the London Stadium soon, Frank Lampard will not be replacing him. That’s because the 46-year-old is said to be one of the lead candidates for the Coventry City job (Telegraph), and he’s now believed to be in advanced talks with them.

Thankfully the silliness can be put to bed now.

Despite his checkered past with the Hammers, Lampard has been heavily linked with the London Stadium hot-seat over the past two weeks.

I knew the reports were utter rubbish at the time, and had absolutely no truth behind them.

The relationship between Lampard and the Hammers faithful turned sour when he demanded to be sold to our London rivals Chelsea back in 2001.

He even suggested that he wasn’t liked by our supporters.

And then after joining Chelsea, Lampard went on to criticise West Ham and our fans on numerous occasions.

There was no way that West Ham would appoint Frank Lampard as our new manager, and I’m sure that he wouldn’t want to take the job neither. All the ridiculous rumours should stop now, thankfully.
