£30k/pw star will surely question decision to join West Ham if he doesn’t start vs Chelsea – view

Crysencio Summerville may be questioning decision to join West Ham already. West Ham United signed Crysencio Summerville from Leeds United in the summer transfer window.

Crysencio Summerville actually admitted that he told his father two years ago that he wanted to play for West Ham one day. So playing for West Ham has obviously been a dream for Crysencio Sumemrville for quite some time now.

Summerville, who earns around £30k-a-week at the London Stadium (Spotrac), was signed for just £20 million in the summer (Florian Plettenberg) – truly outstanding value in this day and age. According to a report from The Athletic, Summerville opted to join West Ham over other clubs in the summer in order to secure more regular playing time.

“The attacker had interest from three other Premier League clubs but chose West Ham to secure playing time.” However, the Dutchman been given just 140 minutes of action in all competitions so far this season, and he’s been handed just one start – in the Carabao Cup.

So is it too early to suggest he could already be questioning his decision to join the Hammers?

Here’s the bottom line – if Summerville doesn’t get the nod to start against Chelsea on Saturday, he’ll have every right to start asking Lopetegui questions.

The Hammers head coach stunned the fans when he started Tomas Soucek against Fulham two days ago, as part of a midfield three alongside Edson Alvarez and Guido Rodriguez. It was a horrendous decision that Lopetegui quickly rectified at half-time.

On came Summerville in place of Soucek for the second-half, and the former Leeds man made an immediate impact with his pace and direct playing style.

Lopetegui cannot afford to make the same mistake with his starting lineup again. Soucek has to be on the bench and Summerville needs to come into the side in the left wing position.

That way, Lucas Paqueta or Carlos Soler can provide the creativity and guile we need in the middle of the park. Surely Lopetegui can see that this is the way forward.

Crysencio Summerville a star in the making for West Ham

The former Leeds man has the exact skillset we need right now to inject a bit of enthusiasm, pace and dynamism into our play. First and foremost, he’s absolutely rapid, and that pace is something we really need across the front-line.

I actually believe that the end goal could well be to have Jarrod Bowen play through the middle, Mohammed Kudus out wide on the right, Lucas Paqueta in the number 10 role and Summerville in the left wing position. Summerville plays with a certain kind of youthful exuberance and fearlessness that we don’t really possess right now.

The former Leeds man will definitely need time to adapt to Lopetegui’s system and demands at the London Stadium.

However, once everything falls into place, I have no doubts that Crysencio Summerville will be a huge hit with West Ham.

Everyone just needs to give him the time he needs. And crucially, Summerville himself needs to be patient. That said, if he doesn’t get the nod to start the game against Chelsea on Saturday, I think he should be asking one or two questions of Lopetegui.
