West Ham United are expected to lodge a £12.8 million bid for a winger imminently, according to one report.
Julen Lopetegui and Tim Steidten are clearly making contingency plans for West Ham this summer, with a deal for 18-year-old Brazilian Luis Guilherme still not finalised.
That said, it has been claimed that the Hammers are now close to wrapping up a deal for the Palmeiras starlet.
Even so, it makes sense to have another target lined up, in case the move for Guilherme breaks down yet again.
Casting the net far and wide will be key for West Ham this summer.
According to A Bola, that’s exactly what the Hammers have in the pipeline with a bid imminently set to be made for Vitoria de Guimaraes winger Jota Silva.
It was actually claimed towards the end of last month that West Ham were closing in on a deal to sign the 24-year-old.
Those claims may have been slightly premature, but now the East London outfit appear to be ready to pull the trigger on a move for the Portuguese star…

The skilful Vitoria de Guimaraes attacker is firmly on the Hammers radar.
And if West Ham manage to get him for just under £13 million, it will be a truly stunning deal for the club.
The 24-year-old attacker was in fine form out in Portugal this season just gone.
He bagged an incredibly impressive 15 goals and seven assists in 42 games in all competitions (Transfermarkt).
Jota Silva has exactly the kind of profile we need at the London Stadium right now. He’s a right-footed left winger, and he’d be a big upgrade on the recently departed Said Benrahma.
The Portuguese ace possesses skill in abundance, is incredibly intelligent when it comes to the runs he makes and he has impressive pace.
Silva stands at 5ft 10in tall and is very strong, so he should have no problems settling into life in the Premier League.
If West Ham do lodge a bid for the 24-year-old winger within the next few days, it might not be too long before Lopetegui bolsters his attacking ranks at the London Stadium.
