Man Utd are in the market for at least one new striker ahead of next season, with Kane, Rasmus Hojlund and Randal Kolo Muani among the players they are being linked with.
Daniel Levy is a renowned stern negotiator and a deal will always be difficult for Man Utd to pull off due to the Tottenham chief’s unwillingness to do business with their Premier League rivals.
Bayern Munich and PSG are also admirers of Kane, who could leave Spurs pretty soon if Football Insider are to be believed.
According to reports, England international Harry Kane could leave Tottenham Hotspur ‘in days’ amid reports linking him with Man Utd and Bayern Munich.
Kane is out of contract in 2024 and it is looking increasingly likely that he will leave the club either this summer or before the 2024/25 campaign.
The forward netted 30 Premier League goals during what was a sensational campaign for him on a personal level in 2022/23 and he is now being targeted by clubs around Europe.
They suggested on Tuesday evening that Kane ‘could be gone in days after a new development’. It is said that ‘negotiations are set to accelerate with Tottenham now willing to cash in on their talisman’. The report adds.
‘As such, it is believed Kane could now depart before the start of the 2023-24 campaign – which sees the Lilywhites take on Brentford on 13 August.
‘Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (25 July) that the 29-year-old will be sold this summer if he doesn’t sign a new contract with Spurs.
‘The Australian is expected to receive a large percentage of any potential fee to secure a replacement for Kane – and will want to get any new signing up to speed in a timely fashion. Tottenham are believed to be holding out for a fee of £100million for Kane.’
Ex-England international Stuart Pearce reckons £80m would be a fair price for Kane and he also thinks Tottenham would struggle without him.
“It’ll go a long way,” Pearce told talkSPORT. “At the start of any season you look at your squad, go through it and see how many goals you’ve got in your squad and each goal equates to a point, near enough.”
“If you look at the league table at the end of the season and a team have scored 70 goals then the chances are that they’re in and around 70 points. By losing Harry Kane you’re taking a lot of goals out of your team.”
When asked if he’ll leave, Pearce added: “I literally have no idea. If I was someone like Man United I’d come and buy him.
“Whenever you buy a player there’s no resale value because of freedom of contract, so it doesn’t really matter. All clubs are buying for the here and now – the season coming up and whatever happens after that, so be it.
“We mentioned £80million, I think that’s a good price for someone who can guarantee 20-plus goals per season. With Declan Rice going for £105million I think they’ll be looking for more than £105million.”
